Sources have made us understand that the Buenas Opiniones Scholarship for Latino students is a rudimental scholarship that has its concentration on Latino students, i.e students with Hispanic heritage looking to further expand their knowledge in their majoring field. Buenas Opiniones will support its scholars in a variety of ways including but not limited to personal, leadership and professional development opportunities, networking and mentorship opportunities, as well as financial and academic support to prepare its scholars to be the next leaders in their professions and communities. This scholarship opportunity has an indirect way of making students work harder, so as to keep getting this scholarship annually. More than 50 million people in the United States identify as Hispanic, making the growing Latino population by far the largest minority group in the country. Though there are continued cultural, economic, and societal barriers to educational success, students of Hispanic descent have recently made significant gains, and Buenas Opiniones would like to contribute to that momentum. This scholarship is obviously making the Latino race in America more popular and powerful, by empowering them Academically. NOTE: This scholarship is for graduating Latino high school seniors or currently enrolled college undergraduate or graduate students. The scholarship is giving academic support to prepare its scholars to be the next leaders in their professions and communities. The scholarship award amount is $2,500 for up to four years. Level/Field of Study
The uniqueness of this scholarship is not in the field and level of study, and it is not a kind of scholarship that focuses on any field or level of study. The uniqueness of this scholarship is in the race, which is Hispanic, and this has nothing to do with the level and course of study. Therefore by implication, this scholarship is open for every level in the tertiary institution. It is open 100, 200, 300, 400 and all the levels the university can offer, even postgraduate students who are Latino in the race. It is even available for high school graduating students who are entering the college, or university, or college of education, or even polytechnic, the only difference is that if you’re already in the college you must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and above while as a graduating senior students you don’t need such. Therefore this is an opportunity to better yourself and study more about your field with less financial pressure on you. All you need is to be a graduating senior or already enrolled in a tertiary institution as an undergraduate or postgraduate student.

Deadline: November 15th Awarded by the Association of Latino Men for Action in Chicago, the Alvarado/García Scholarship is designed for Hispanic high school seniors who are gay, bisexual or questioning their sexual orientation. The $1,000 scholarship is provided each year to a select number of students who have been accepted to attend a two or four-year university within the state of Illinois. ASA Minority Fellowship Program
Deadline: January 31st Funded by the American Sociological Association (ASA), the Minority Fellowship Program (MFP) is designed to help support the development and training of minority sociologists for advanced research careers in a number of specialties, including social psychology, education, health, gender, and sexuality, or medicine. Deadline: June 1st Established in honor of Berrien Fragos Thorn, the Geneseo Migrant Center grants $2,500 scholarships semi-annually to students who are interested in pursuing careers in visual, performing, media, crafts, and literary arts. #2. Catharine Lealtad Scholarships
Deadline: January 15th In honor of the first African American woman to graduate from Macalester College in 1915, the Catharine Lealtad Scholarships are awarded to selected African American, Hispanic, or Native American students of the college with solid academic high school standings. Although the scholarships are normally $3,000 per student, those who are National Achievement or National Hispanic Scholarship Finalists are eligible to receive up to $5,000. Deadline: May 1st In order to promote Cisco’s enduring commitment to global diversity, the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) awards five $5,000 scholarships each year for STEM college students nationwide. Deadline: April 16th With the goal of providing financial assistance to increase Hispanic graduation rates, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) awards enrolled college students who have a shining history of participating in public service activities in their communities. The one-time scholarship is worth $1,000 for students pursuing an associate’s degree, $2,500 for undergraduate students, and $5,000 for graduate students. Deadline: April 15th Sponsored by the University of California-Irvine, the Cuban-American Scholarship Fund is open to all undergraduate and graduate students of Cuban descent for financial assistance up to $2,000.
